Ipas web style guide
Consistent styling is important to optimize the user’s experience. In addition to the out of the box modules from Divi Builder, our Divi Library has styles for modules, rows, and sections that can be added to any page.
Detailed instructions for how to edit the site are still in the ipas.org guide, found in our ipas.org project folder.

Text styling
- Page titles are automated as H1 so page content should always start with an H2.
- Always use consective heading styles (i.e. H5’s should only be applied if below an H4).
- Do not use a bold or italic style with heading styles. These typefaces already have a weight applied.

In the nearly two years since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the constitutional right to abortion in the United States, the abortion landscape has become fragmented and increasingly polarized. In more than half of the 50 U.S. states, abortion is now completely banned, heavily restricted or under legal threat.

Why did you decide to do this research project?
Heron: As a bisexual agender parent of a tween, I am hyper-aware of the need for culturally competent sex ed.
Paige: I am always looking for ways to more intentionally work across movements, particularly repro and queer movements. This research project offered the opportunity to do just that while shining a light on communities that get overlooked in policy and advocacy spaces.

White supremacy in global health
“In the global health and human rights community, where I sit professionally, there’s been a lot of discussion in the last few years about decolonizing global health,” writes Ipas President and CEO Anu Kumar in a piece published by Think Global Health. “What we don’t talk about explicitly enough, however, is how white supremacy operates in this sector… The linkages between colonialism and patriarchy, between racial justice and gender justice are undeniable. They have—and still do—oppress Black and brown women.” Read her piece

Beyond the individual: Research shows abortion access has widespread benefits
Our research shows that when abortion is legal, it not only improves people’s own quality of life, but that of their families, communities and even countries.
Khusbu Poudel, Ipas Nepal’s program coordinator for climate justice, gender, and sexual and reproductive health and rights, didn’t fully grasp the extent to which women’s and girls’ bodily autonomy is affected during climate crises until she joined Ipas two years ago.
In the heart of Kenya, from the bustling urban center of Kiambu to the rural landscapes of Kakamega, a quiet revolution in the delivery of medical abortion services is taking place through the Medical Abortion Self Use (MASU) project.
Sexual violence is a cross-border crisis that deeply impacts the lives of women and girls in Latin America. Bolivia faces one of the highest rates of sexual violence in the region.
“The current election in the U.S. is one of the most critical elections for the future of women’s rights, sexual and reproductive rights, and the right to safe and legal abortion,” says Dr. Jean-Claude Mulunda, Director of Ipas Democratic Republic of Congo. “The toughening of laws that began with the Dobbs decision set a detrimental direction; and this election will decide the fate of women in the U.S. and worldwide.”
Abida Sultana is confident that her studies in English and Literature gives her a unique perspective when exploring the stories about sexual and reproductive health and rights in different cultural contexts.
Despite advancements in safe abortion care around the world, the playing field is far from level. Some people have easy access to quality care, while others face significant barriers.
Amidst the majestic peaks of the Himalayas, Nepal faces a dual reality: breathtaking landscapes and formidable environmental challenges. Research by Ipas Nepal shows that beyond the snow-capped summits and lush valleys lies a quieter battle—one that adversely affects women’s health and rights.
There has been considerable progress in gender equality in Indonesia, yet significant challenges remain that impede women from reaching their full potential. The situation is complex, shaped by numerous factors, including culture and religion.
Ipas Ethiopia is a regional leader in connecting women and girls with reproductive health care.
A resolution condemning the criminalization of abortion in the United States and urging governments at all levels—federal, state and local—to uphold abortion as a human right was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on September 24 with tremendous support—96 original co-sponsors.
One of our latest projects helps young people make informed decisions about contraception and focuses on couples in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan who have either no children or one child.
Poverty, prostitution, insecurity, and precarious living conditions are the hallmarks of the Pakadjuma neighborhood in Kinshasa. The insecurity in this neighborhood is compounded by extreme poverty, pushing many women to engage in survival activities, often at the expense of their health.
As climate change intensifies, its impact on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), is becoming increasingly concerning. However, there has been limited research on how this crisis specifically affects SRHR services and the health of vulnerable communities.
This year, over four billion people in more than 40 countries have already or will be going to the polls. As anti-rights groups intensify their efforts to roll back progress on gender justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and access to abortion and reproductive health care, the stakes have never been higher.
