We are partners for reproductive justice

Our updated brand reflects our commitment to global reproductive justice.

For almost 50 years, Ipas’s singular focus has been on expanding access to high-quality abortion care around the world. As the global movement for abortion rights has evolved to focus on abortion as a human rights and justice issue, not only a public health issue, so has Ipas.

We believe in justice, equity and shifting power

Reproductive justice is the human right to bodily autonomy—the right to control one’s own sexuality, gender, health, and reproduction, and to do so safely and with dignity. It is a framework created by Black and brown women in the United States and has tremendous value globally. Access to abortion and contraception are important components of reproductive justice.

Our brand update reflects that Ipas’s work is grounded in the belief that having the right to abortion isn’t enough—because people around the world face economic, cultural, religious and systemic barriers that prevent them from accessing their rights. Our comprehensive approach works across institutions and communities to center the needs of people who seek abortion care and to build sustainable ecosystems for abortion and contraception that ensure everyone has access.

Reproductive justice, put simply, is the right of every person to have basic autonomy over their body and sexuality. It centers the needs of Black and brown women and other often-marginalized groups but unites all people in the struggle for justice. Ipas is proud to be a trusted partner in this movement.”

Anu Kumar, Ipas President and CEO

We know the fight for equity and justice requires that we shift power away from those who have historically been in control of funding, programs and decisionmaking around reproductive health and rights. Our brand update reflects how Ipas is evolving our organization from a traditional NGO model to a global network with shared leadership that will put power in the hands of the people closest to our work and impact.

As we shift power internally, we’ll be more locally led and globally connected—making us stronger and better able to support our partners in expanding abortion access for all.”
